non-animal,biodegradable gel based on a naturalsubstance,
called hyaluronic acid. The gel is injected into the skin

- The process begins with an aesthetic consultation with
the physician. Together you will decide what areas of
concern you wish to have treated.
- Generally these procedures are done under a dental block
which is similar to a block you would receive to have
a cavity filled. After the block is in place, the injections
can be done without significant discomfort.
- The areas that you have decided to have treated are
then injected with a very small needle. The volume of
material injected will depend on the number of areas to
be treated.
- The results of the injections will be seen immediately.
However, after injection, the areas will become slightly
reddened and swollen. The final appearance will be appreciated
about 5 days after injection.
- At your first follow-up visit, you and your doctor will
decide if any touch up injection of the filler is required.
- Restylane® last for 4-6 months
- Radiesse® last for 12-18 months.
- Many patients prefer to return for re-injection before
the effect has completely worn off to better preserve
a consistent appearance.
- The most common side effects are redness at the injection
site and swelling. This is generally very short-lived.
Most patients can return to work the same day.
